Snake in the Pulpit Georgia Bishop Settles Sexual Abuse Case in Georgia

Many cases of sexual abuse are registered every single year. The state of Georgia saw a sexual abuse case in which a pastor, of the mega church New Birth, was brought to book by the four men whom he allegedly sexually abused.

The Georgia sexual abuse case made headlines because the person accused is a famous church pastor who has a large parish following. Bishop Eddie Long is the man in question. He is accused of having groomed four boys with the aim of having sexual relations with them in the future. The four boys, now men, hired a sexual abuse lawyer and took Long to court after a few years and the case has ended before it reached trial.

It is alleged that the four boys were a part of the youth group who received special attention from Bishop Eddie Long for an extensive period of time. He was grooming them in order to begin sexual relations with them. As soon as they turned 16 years old, the sexual encounters with them began. Long waited till they turned 16 as that is the legal age of consent in the state of Georgia.

Talk show host and author Rueben Armstrong spoke about Bishop Long as someone who was a perpetrator of child sexual abuse long before the claims came to light. He wrote about him in his book Snakes in the Pulpit. Clergy sexual abuse is a heinous crime that has only increased in the last few years. Armstrong predicted that Long would manage to settle the case out of court and his predictions have come true. Bishop Long and his attorney have managed to assuage the four boys and their sexual abuse attorney in an out of court settlement. The exact amount that he paid to them is undisclosed.

Delaware Pediatrician Facing Child Sex Abuse Charges

Doctors, and in particular pediatricians, are regarded highly. However, when a pediatrician sexually abuses children and females coming into his clinic, it seems to be lifted directly from the pages of a horror novel. But this is what Delaware’s pediatrician Earl Bradley has been doing since 1994. Investigators have been able to recover tapes of Bradley sexually abusing children and females in his cartoon themed clinic office.
Bradley will be facing hundreds of charges of sexual abuse and child sexual abuse in Georgetown, Delaware when the trial begins this week. The trial however will be presided over by a lone judge and the jury would not be present considering the sensitivity of the case. It is believed that tapes containing sexual abuse done by Bradley will be played within the closed doors of the court. A gag order has also been imposed on all the parties involved to protect the privacy of the sex abuse victims of the pedophile pediatrician.
Though Bradley was arrested in 2009 on charges of sexual abuse, his history of sexual abuse dates back to 1994 when he was first accused of sexual abuse by the staff of the hospital he was working in. The charges were made again by another hospital staff in 1996. Unfortunately, the habitual sex offender managed to wriggle out of the legal tangle without any setbacks. Even the sister of the pediatrician had once contacted the authorities stating that her brother needed medical help since he used to touch his younger female patients inappropriately. In 2008, the Delaware Police Department again received complaints against Bradley, which after thorough investigation led to his arrest in December 2009. It is amazing his actions were able to continue for such a long period of time. How many fathers just let this go?

Catholic Priest Arrested on Charges of Clergy Sexual Abuse in Florida

Clergy abuse is a heinous crime that is mostly kept under wraps. Like in any sexual abuse case, the victim fears repercussions and humiliation and so stays quiet about any abuse faced for years and sometimes even all of their lives. A Catholic priest has been arrested on counts of child sexual abuse in Florida and whose trial is set for May 2011.

Father William Wert has been accused of and arrested for charges related to the sexual abuse of a 14 year old boy. In the past, clergy abuse attorneys have been hired against him on similar charges in Washington DC in 2007. Wert, now 54, has been arrested in Venice, Florida in February 2011 after the victim and his parent consulted clergy abuse lawyers and reported him to the police authorities. Investigations have resulted in 11 sexual abuse counts being leveled against this clergy member. As evidence a whole list of text messages as well as computer chat exchanges have been provided to the court. Hotel room receipts indicate a severity to the crime and felony counts have been brought up against him.

As a person in a position of authority, Wert has repeatedly and atrociously abused his authority and position as a man of the cloth. Child sexual abuse attorneys in Florida have been commissioned to deal with the case and prosecute the priest in the court of law. He has been arrested based on “lewd and lascivious behavior with a minor.”

Having formerly worked in California, Wert had ample access to young children in particular. The Sarasota County Sheriff’s department has released plenty of information about the arrests in this case of clergy abuse and the various counts through an affidavit. He will soon face his crimes and punishment in court. A clergy abuse attorney in Florida has been called in by the father of the child.

Clergy Abuse – Criminal Lawsuit is Not the Only Option

Clergy abuse has caught the attention of people since the 1980s. However, the Catholic Church, in order to save its face has been engaging into various tactics to circumvent being tried under civil suits.

One approach, adopted by the diocese, was to transfer the accused person to some other location or declare bankruptcy. This way, even if the clergy abuse victim files a civil suit against the church, the religious organization could easily say that the person no longer works with them or in case of eventuality; they could not offer any compensation to the minister abuse victim as they are already bankrupt. They have been doing this for a long time and with considerable success. Even so, the Catholic Church is still a beacon of hope for millions and does far more good than bad. The Catholic Church believes in the Holy Trinity and has fought against evil of all stripes for centuries. There are a couple of bad apples though that need to be picked and prosecuted though.

An effective clergy abuse attorney will tell you that apart from filing a criminal lawsuit against the offender, a civil suit also needs to be filed against the diocese. Though no amount of compensation can remove the scars of sexual abuse, clergy abuse or minister abuse, this will force the church to recruit people with utmost care.
In many states, laws have been amended in favor of clergy abuse victims. One of them is the statute of limitations. However, the statue of limitations differs from state to state. It thus is the responsibility of the clergy abuse lawyer to educate the victim of sexual abuse about the relevant laws. Though children are vulnerable to sexual abuse in many places, even their homes, very little attention is paid to them while they are with the religious representatives. The Vatican agrees that around two percent of their priests were confirmed child sex abusers. They should be punished like any other pedophile after convicted.

Kentucky Pastor Charged with Child Sexual Abuse

Pastor Jeremy Dewayne Caraway, a 36-year old pastor of the Loyall Church of God, has been charged with child sexual abuse by the Kentucky state police. The incidence came to light when the grandmother of the child sex abuse victim stumbled upon email exchanges between the 14-year old female victim and the pastor. As of now, the pastor has been charged with two counts of sodomy, unlawful transaction, first-degree sexual abuse – all under the Illegal Sex Act of Kentucky. After receiving the complaints and subsequent media reports, the pastor as of now has been placed on forced administrative leave by The Church of God International.
The child sex abuse victim was staying with her grandparents, who also were her guardians. The grandmother of the sexual abuse victim, whose identity is yet to be released, used to monitor the Facebook and email messages of the child sex abuse victim, her granddaughter. On Sunday, the grandmother of the abused child became suspicious and reported the same to local authorities who were able to attain a warrant against Caraway and arrest him on child sexual abuse charges.

The pastor however maintains that the child sexual abuse charges made against him are entirely baseless. He however states that it is entirely possible that he may have touched the girl while on the altar which might have been construed as child sexual abuse. Why he would touch her there at all is just as strange anyhow? Caraway, in 1990’s was charged with cocaine possession, and was under probation for a long period. Why churches continue to work with people such as this is a disappointment. Well, our government continues to work with deceitful politicians like Barnie Frank so this is actually quite common.
Sexual abuse at the hands of ministers is not so uncommon. The only problem is, the victims usually are too docile or ashamed to come out with their sexual abuse accounts. As most the sex abuse victims of clergy abuse are children, they seldom realize what and why this is happening to them.

Clergy Sex Abuse Uncovered In Kentucky

by admin on May 23, 2011

Kentucky Priest Sexual Abuse Victim Still Waiting for Justice

A Kentucky man, who was subjected to clergy abuse when he was a minor, is being unheard by the local diocese. Even after the present diocese investigator concurred that the accusations made by the minister abuse victim were genuine, no action has been initiated against the accused.
Another Case the Church Must Deal With
The catholic abuse victim, whose identity is yet to be revealed, has finally decided to take the help of a local non-profit organization against clergy abuse. The accused in this case is David Pichette, who at present is 70 years old and resides in Miami, Florida. According to Rev. Robert M. Hoatson, who heads the local non-profit organization for clergy abuse victims, the victim was subjected to child sexual abuse at the hands of Pichette in 1981 on a farm used for community services. The victim was fondled and also experienced sexual advances by Pichette. Unable to comprehend the heinousness of the crime, he was silent all these years.
Pichette is Gone
The clergy abuse victim however after much contemplation decided to break his silence and approached the local diocese. That was January of 2011, this year. However, sensing that his complaints were falling on deaf ears, the minister abuse victim decided to approach someone else outside the Catholic Church. Danielle Cummings, the spokesperson of the diocese, is mum on the issue. All she could say was since Pichette no longer is with them, there is very little they can do anything about the clergy abuse case. She is correct.
Too Late

The problem with this particular case is the statute of limitations in Kentucky. There might be a hope for the clergy sexual abuse victim if the case is handled deftly by a competent lawyer. The child sexual abuse and clergy abuse victim needs to come out in open and make his charges public so that the case could be followed vehemently. But really can be done considering the perpetrator is no longer around? Do not ever give up though until you have spoken with someone who can and wants to be on your side.

The Pope Is Full Of Crap And Heres Why!

by admin on May 19, 2011

In the last few days, a new report has come out about the clergy abuse that has become an epidemic in the Catholic church. This report was paid for by the Catholic church and at the end of the day the report basically says that what happened in Catholic church was happening all over the world in all types of schools and camps and it happened because of a myriad of reasons.

The report is flawed for many reasons but here are a few of my observations on the clergy abuse report.

The report says that the epidemic and crisis was unforseeable and there is no way that the Church as an organization could have detected what pastor was a child molester or child sexual abuser. After all, pedophile priests dont dress different or wear a sign, so how could they detect it. This is complete nonsense because it has already been proven in case after case that the Bishops knew and still know who the bad apples are. So when they found out, back then did they remove them? When they find out today, do they throw them out and report it to the police? Did’nt the Pope himself in 1992 say that this type of behavior will not be acccepted? He sure did but nobody does anything. These Bishops in todays parishes have information on priests that are abusing and have abused yet they say nothing. They hide behind the church walls and keep their mouth shut.

They say that this problem was LONG AGO. The fact is its not true. How many private settlements are worked out these days between the church and lawyers on behalf of new victims. We dont know because they are private. Thats right, you heard it right. Even today, so many years ago the Church keeps lawyers on retainer to hush up new plaintiffs that have been abused in the last few years.

The Report says that the clergy abuse was not all that bad. These children who were sexually abused had gone through puberty already. Yes, that was part of the report. I have no comment here because I am ready to throw up on a Bishops head right now.

The report says that the Bishops are not at fault. This too is full of crap. The Bishops in these parishes are the CEO’s of the operation. They know whats going on and they have the power to throw out the bad apples. They didnt then and they dont now. If the Pope had any balls at all he would make it mandatory for all bishops, young and old to report bad pastors and priests and staff that had anything to do with the abuse. But he wont. He sits around and babbles a few general statements that are probably prepared for him and the world is expected to listen to his nonsense.

The Pope is full of crap and he knows it. Get some balls Mr. Pope and make some rules that mean something.

It is with sadness that I am reporting on a case that was reported out of Louisville, Kentucky. A Kentucky court has dismissed the lawsuit of the former accountant for a Catholic parish, who said that she had been fired because she reported that a priest who had been disciplined for sexual abuse was living at the parish.

Judge Mitch Perry ruled that the lawsuit by Margie Weiter was not within his court’s jurisdiction, since it involved the internal process by which the Catholic Church disciplines clerics. The judge also observed that the case did not directly involve sexual abuse of children.

As I learned about this story it is interesting to note that he plaintiff’s added another defendant to the case when they discovered that there was another priest named Ewing who was also hanging around the parish and was convicted in the 1970′s of raping a teenager. Yes, you heard right! Raping a teenager. So what is this animal doing back at the church? Volunteering under the supervision of the current priest in charge?

As expected, the Louisville archdiocese applauded the court’s ruling. Archdiocesan officials claim that Weiter was dismissed because of budgetary concerns, not because she complained about the presence of the abusive priest.

Jefferson Circuit Judge Mitch Perry, in a ruling filed Monday, accepted the archdiocese’s argument that the court could not review the claim because of the constitutional bar on government interfering with how religious organizations discipline members — in this case, an allegedly abusive priest.

This case really shows the inner workings of the Catholic church. They all know that they are suspect in the eyes of most people yet they continue to let pedophiles and convicted rapists hang around the church. I mean, imagine if your best fried was convicted of raping a child and then he just came back to your house and acted as if nothing major had occurred. This is the Catholic church in a nutshell.

What am I saying? I think its loud and clear. The Vatican can publish as many guidelines as they can think of but as long as you have institutions that harbour sexual offenders, the paper that they use for the guidelines should be thrown in the toilet. The bottom line is that these guys are the same guys that were doing terrible things 20 years ago. They are just much more careful.

Although we hear plenty about the sexual abuse that takes place in the Catholic church, rarely do we hear the stories about Rabbi’s or Cantors who are sexually abusing children and teen agers in the very closed Haredi or Chassidic communities. In the Haredi community, it is considered a very huge blemish on the family if it is discovered that a young boy or girl was sexually abused in a yeshiva or Chaider. The mere fact that sexual abuse took place affects the type of family that the sexually abused boy could eventually marry into. For this reason and others, when sexual abuse occurs, it is often swept under the rug and never disclosed to police or a mental health counselor.

In the Christian and Catholic communities many support groups have emerged over the years to provide mental and physical support to survivors of clergy sexual abuse. In the very orthodox jewish world, such an infrastructure is no where to be found. In fact, the community leaders in most of these closed societies prefer to never talk about this taboo subject. It is rare to find advocates against sexual abuse in the Haredi community and if you ask 9 out of 10 ultra orthodox leaders, they will tell you that there is no such problem in their community. Of course, this is not true.
Within the ultra orthodox community however there are a handful of advocates who are extremely outspoken, one being Nuchem Rosenberg. Rabbi Rosenberg understood long ago that this was a real problem and he has been telling the jewish community about it for many years. We know that sexual abuse is a huge problem in the jewish community and we urge you to come forward with reports of Rabbi sexual abuse.

If you are a survivor who was sexually abused by a Rabbi, we want to help you on your journey of healing. Don’t walk around thinking that no one can help you. There is hope for you and people will believe you. Contact me, Sam Rogatinsky on my personal cell phone number at 954 444 4032 or toll free at 1 866.529 6262. Sexual Abuse in Mental Health Facility Exposed

Last month, I filed a case against Henderson Mental Health in Broward County Florida. At the time that we filed the case it was alleged in the complaint that a Henderson employee named Mervin Span was sexually abusing a patient that we call Jane Doe number 1. It was alleged in the complaint that Mr. Span repeatedly raped our client in her home and other locations.

I am here today to inform the community of Dade, Broward and Palm Beach know that another Henderson Mental Health victim has come forward. This victim was sexually abused on many occasions by the same Henderson employee and has experienced atrocities that no person should go through. Listening to the second victim tell her story made me angry and sad because the abuse was so severe that most people would not be able to go on. It is sickening to hear what has happened to this victim and there is no way to pay her back for what Henderson took away from her.

Let me be as clear as possible. We have very good reason to believe that there are more victims. We think that most of the victims are in Broward county but we are not positive. We are asking all media to alert the community about this situation and we have set up a blog for victims to contact my office. You can learn more about the abuse at www.hendersonsexabuse.com

If you are a survivor who was sexually abused while you were receiving any type of services, we want to help you on your journey of healing. Don’t walk around thinking that no one can help you. There is hope for you and people will believe you. Contact me, Sam Rogatinsky on my personal cell phone number at 954 444 4032 or toll free at 1 866.529 6262. I can help you – but you must contact me now. You don’t have to be afraid any more.
